Faith at the Acres: A little about me.

March 8, 2026

Happy Sunday, dear friends, and welcome to Ann's Sunflower Acres.

In this post, I want to talk a little about my faith. I am a born-again Christian, and I believe in God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

I believe that there is only one God, and he alone created the earth along with Adam and Eve, and every living creature.

* “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Genesis 1:1.

I also believe that God created only two genders, male and female, that marriage is solely between a man and a woman, and that same sex relations are a sin against God.

* “And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” Genesis 2:7

* “And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.” Genesis 2:22

* Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.” Genesis 2:24

* “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is an abomination.” Leviticus 18:22

* “If a man also lie with mankind as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.” Leviticus 20:13

I was raised in church my whole life. My Grandfather on my mother's side is a Free Will Baptist Preacher (now retired), and his father was a pastor as well. My great-grandmother was from a Jewish family (I don't know much about that side of the family).

When I was a small child, I remember walking to church with my grandma and two brothers; my grandparents only lived two blocks away from our church.

Fast forward a few years to when I was eight. I moved from Idaho to Roswell, NM, to live with my dad and stepmother. We attended First Christian Church, a non-denominational church. We had a wonderful pastor, and I was baptized there when I was about 9. After our pastor moved, we decided to visit other churches, leading us to join Bethal Baptist Church, which is Southern Baptist, and that is the church I grew up in, and we are still members to this day. My dad was ordained as a deacon into the church in 2025 ( I’m very proud of him ).

I was like a lot of teens; there were times when I didn't want to go to church, and when I was about 19-20, I admit I strayed from God. However, in May of 2011, I was in a bad car wreck, and that's when I realized that just because you may stray from God, He never leaves you. When I wrecked my car, it was late at night, and I had just left work and was driving home when a deer ran out in front of me. I swerved and overcorrected, which caused me to hit the dich and my car went end over end, and then rolled three times into a pecan field. I landed right side up between two trees. Luckily, I didn't hurt the trees.

I was not badly injured, only a slightly fractured nose, lots of bruises, my left elbow was cut open, tearing the ligament that goes to the last three fingers on my left hand (I still don’t have much feeling in that hand), and my top lip was cut in half.

I remember my first thought was that I had to call my dad, but fast forward a few hours, at the hospital, I was told that two things saved my life: 1. The seat belt (please always wear your seat belt ), 2. The air bag not going off, but I know for a fact that the main thing that saved my life was God. He had my wrapped in his hands that night.

So, although I may have strayed from Him, He was still there with me.

God's love for you is unconditional and will never leave you, no matter what. He loved us so much that he sent His own son to die on a cross for our sins and wash us clean. Jesus defeated death and rose again, and is still living, waiting in Heaven for us when we get there someday.

* " For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

To this day, my Faith is strong, and I know no matter what happens in this life, I will meet my God in Heaven and live in paradise with him. I know he will always provide for me, listen to me when I speak to him, and protect me.

* “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside still waters, He restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for His name's sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalms 23:1-6

Psalm 23 is one of my favorite verses in the whole Bible. It was a love song King David wrote to God.

Life on earth is not perfect, and some of us struggle, but remember, God is always there with you.

Well, friends, that's all for today, but I will have more faith-based posts to come.
